Dezurney stopped before the deputy even turned on his lights.

He told the deputy he had some “stuff” on him and the deputy found

for a broken leg.

According to a deputy, Miller said she swerved into the oncoming
lane to avoid something in the road. She realized she was coming up
on a curve and slammed on her brakes, but the 2003 Toyota Camry
continued straight and hit the oncoming 1999 Nissan Altima.

The Nissan’s driver, Laree Annette Bates, 49, of Scio, suffered
cuts to her face and medics took her to the hospital in
Stayton.

The roads were slick and there was low visibility due to hard rain,
according to the deputy’s report.

and medics responded to a crash at the intersection of South
Seventh Street and Airport Road. A car had hit a power pole.

When police arrived, the headlights to the vehicle were on but no
one was inside.

Police attempted to contact the vehicle’s owner but no one was
home.

The ignition had been “punched” indicating the car was likely
stolen. There was a “for sale” sign in the window.

siphoning hoses, three backpacks, several flashlights and spare
batteries.
