GREENVILLE —
Two men got quite a surprise Thursday, after they were caught by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office in the process of allegedly stealing a wood splitter.
Sheriff Randy Meeks said deputies greeted the two suspected thieves as they were leaving from a residence on County Road 3101 after they had stolen a gasoline wood splitter.
“We had received a tip that the theft was going to take place,” Meeks said. “Deputies set up a perimeter after notifying the homeowner.”
The suspects were reported to have cut a barb wire fence to make entry onto the property, then stole the wood splitter valued at $1,600.
