court. Initial charges often change as a case

ALBANY POLICE
Motorcycle vs. car— An Albany motorcyclist got a courtesy
ride by the fire department Sunday morning after a car changing
lanes struck him in the 2000 block of Santiam Highway near Staples.
The driver of the car was cited.
Raft sinks — Three juveniles made a raft early
Sunday afternoon from lumber they found in Periwinkle Park left
from a torn-down bridge. The three put the raft in Periwinkle Creek
and it tipped over.
The three were not hurt. Sgt. Jerry Drum notified the city’s public
works department that the wood pile was an attractive
nuisance.
Timber splitter gone — Employees discovered a
$1,900 timber splitter missing Saturday morning from the front of
Coastal Farm and Home Supply in the 1300 block of Goldfish Farm
Road. The splitter’s lock was cut. Employees reviewed video,
discovering that the theft occurred about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Cat killed —Two dogs reportedly entered a woman’s yard in
the 700 block of 23rd Avenue and killed her cat about 8:20 a.m.
Sunday. An officer scoured the area for the dogs but did not see
them.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Roller derby equipment — A woman who participates in
roller derby found her car broken into Sunday morning at the Linn
County Fair and Expo Center. Missing were skates, equipment, helmet
and pads valued together at $1,100.
Open gate — A man asked deputies for help Saturday
morning when he found his vehicle locked behind a gate in the 42900
block of Highway 226.
A deputy arrived to give the man a ride. The man said he would call
the property owner later go get someone to open the gate.
Raccoon killing — A caller told dispatch early
Saturday afternoon a man was firing a handgun at something near the
Trio Tavern in Mill City.
The shooter told deputies he discovered a rabid raccoon in his
woodpile that was a threat to his family, so he shot it.
Found horse trailer — A horse trailer with a
locked storage box was found Saturday afternoon on the Willamette
Mainline off of Meridian Road near Lacomb. A check indicated the
trailer was registered in Arizona and had not been reported
missing. Sgt. Shawn Fielder said deputies believe the person with
the trailer was trail riding.
