South Bruce OPP recovered a stolen pickup truck and the wood splitter it was towing about an hour apart in separate locations in South Bruce.
Police were called to a residence along Conc. 14 in the former Culross Township shortly before 5 a.m. on Wednesday after the homeowner awoke to the sound of the truck — a red Chevrolet Silverado — being driven away, Const. Kevin Martin said in a news release.
The vehicle was pulling an orange and green Wallenstein wood splitter, the release said.
A little more than three hours later the detachment was called about a wood splitter left on Sideroad 5 in the former Carrick Township. Officers arrived to find the stolen Wallenstein wood splitter. It had been left on the road before daylight, the release said.
Then, at 9:10 a.m., police were called about a pickup that was left in a field along Concession 2 in Carrick. It was the Silverado stolen four hours earlier.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the South Bruce OPP or CrimeStoppers.
